FarPlay

The easiest, fastest & best-sounding low-latency audio on the internet.

FarPlay is a full-fledged communication solution, not so different at first glance from Zoom or FaceTime. But there's a huge difference under the hood: FarPlay reduces the audio delay between yourself and others to the absolute minimum, so much so that you can play music together over the internet in real-time.

Now with built-in video, multi-user sessions and multi-track recording.

While conventional communication solutions have latencies — the delay between yourself and others — well over 100 ms (milliseconds) under ideal conditions, FarPlay can achieve latencies below 10 ms. This makes all the difference when playing music together, and it makes everyday conversation feel infinitely more human.

In air, sound travels at about 1 ft (0.3 m) per ms. So a FarPlay session with 15 ms of latency feels the same as playing with someone 15 ft (5 m) away from you in the same room. FarPlay transports audio so efficiently that you can play music, teach lessons, conduct interviews, or practice a comedy routine as if you were together in the same space, even though you might be hundreds or even thousands of miles apart.

Features

• Studio-quality audio

Unlike conventional communication solutions, FarPlay transmits uncompressed, full-duplex 48kHz/16bit PCM audio. The difference is striking: every nuance, every breath, every detail of your sound is preserved.

• Built-in video

FarPlay includes built-in video with customizable layouts.

• Multi-track recording

FarPlay enables you to record separate, perfectly synched tracks for each of the participants, which you can later import into a DAW for mixing.

• Tunable latency

The internet is a complicated place. Data packets take varying amount of time to get from one place to another. When pushing for the lowest-possible latency, this can result in momentary glitches in the audio. FarPlay's Latency Slider gives you full control over this, enabling you to find the perfect compromise between latency and audio quality. Don't worry, your recordings will still come out clean thanks to our state-of-the-art internal buffering system.

• Broadcast Output

With our unique Broadcast Output feature, you can output clean multi-channel audio in real-time to a DAW of your choice, where you can mix it for livestream performances.

Use Cases

• Music lessons

With FarPlay, you'll not only hear your students in full, unfiltered quality, you'll be able to play along with them, too. Voice teachers can finally accompany their students without lag, and improvisation teachers can jam with their students, bringing online lessons to a whole new level.

• Remote rehearsals

In December 2021, the iconic operatic soprano Renée Fleming wanted to try out some material for her upcoming concert at Carnegie Hall with pianist Simone Dinnerstein. Instead of traveling the 250 miles (400 km) that separated them, they simply used FarPlay. Depending on the strength of your internet connection, FarPlay can easily accommodate rehearsals of 6 or more musicians in separate locations.

• Online performances

Thanks to FarPlay's Broadcast Output, musicians can perform together in ultra-low-latency while sending clean multi-channel audio to a DAW for real-time mixing, enabling remote livestream performances with studio-quality sound.

• Podcasts

With FarPlay, you can have a spontaneous and engaging conversation from separate locations, without any of the awkward pauses usually brought on by latency. Best of all, you'll end up with a studio-quality multi-track recording of your audio, which you can mix to perfection.

• Film and theater readings

If you really want to have a sense of the flow of your script without being together in the same room, you need FarPlay. The interaction between actors becomes immeasurably more natural and authentic compared to conventional communications solutions.

• Therapy

FarPlay bridges the gap between therapist and client with a human-feeling connection, in the hope of improved clinical outcomes.

Easiest

FarPlay has been carefully designed to be as easy as possible to use. You don't need to configure a server or open ports on your router (a potential security vulnerability), you don't need any dedicated hardware, you don't need to install any third-party software. It's as easy to use as Zoom, without Zoom's latency. It just works, allowing you to start playing music in minutes.
